The Terrace Hotel
In 2011 a consortium established by Award Winning architects Perrine Architecture and including Hospitality Pty. Ltd. as the operator and part-owner transformed an old largely derelict heritage building called St Georges House into the beautiful boutique hotel they re-named the Terrace Perth Hotel. It quickly became the ultimate experience in dining, accommodation, entertainment and style.
Situated on the corner of St George’s Terrace and Mount Street in the ‘West End’ of Perth’s C.B.D, the building is a splendid example of terrace style buildings developed along St George’s Terrace in the 1890’s. Perrine Architecture designed 12 luxury hotel rooms and three magnificent suites along with a blue-stone, tree-lined terrace cafe, a cocktail bar and restaurant into this delightful project.
The Hotel’s opening met with much acclaim and for a number of years the business performed at a high level but from 2016 the very challenging tourism landscape of Perth and intense competition from new venues took the Lessee to the point where consistent compliance with the Lease conditions became difficult and the Lessors and the Lessee eventually mutually agreed to end the lease in early July 2018 and the Terrace Hotel Perth finally closed it’s doors on Saturday the 7th July 2018.
The Terrace Hotel featured jarrah staircases and floors, crystal chandeliers, a mahogany bar clouted in brass rivets, chesterfield sofas and a humidified and acclimatized wine vault hosing over 3000 carefully selected and guarded bottles which won many awards.
Dining at The Terrace Hotel satisfied all epicurean desires as the Terrace team focused on fresh West Australian produce and fine wine. Whether they came with friends or colleagues, enjoying a cocktail at the bar, or taking pleasure in one of our private dining rooms, every occasion was a memorable one for our many loyal clients but the hotel didn’t generate the revenue needed to cover the costs as the Perth market contracted when the mining boom ended and as the spend per head dived despite increased numbers of clients, the business became very difficult to operate profitably.
The hotel won many Gold Plate, AHA and Tourism Council awards and Hospitality was very proud to be her operator and to have the wonderful interactions we had with her many loyal clients and the great teams we built there.
We are all very sad that this wonderful journey in this delightful building had to come to an untimely and early end – we can only thank all of our loyal management and staff and our delightful clients for their support and wish the future tenants of the building every success.
Regards

The Terrace Hotel is a great place for lunch or dinner, it’s amazing sat outside in the summer, listening to the jazz band. There’s always a great atmosphere and we’ve never been let down with the food, which is plentiful, tasty and very enjoyable.
Fabulous atmosphere and nostalgic to boot.
